The Tomsk city administration has begun the procedure of terminating contracts with carriers of routes No. 4 and No. 53. Mayor Dmitry Makhinya explained the reasons for this decision in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, Pavel Astapenko, head of the Center for Organization and Control of Passenger Transportation, reported that during the January frosts, the carrier of route No. 4 had only one bus on the line, causing waiting times for passengers to increase to 1.5–2 hours.
«I decided to begin the procedure of terminating contracts with carriers of routes No. 4 and 53. The reason, as in previous situations, is a negligent attitude toward voluntarily assumed obligations. ... During the frosty days, critically few vehicles were recorded on route No. 4, with intervals reaching two hours. People froze at stops and were massively late for work. The claim work yielded no results,» Makhinya wrote.
The mayor«s office also had questions about route No. 53. According to the mayor, there are far fewer complaints against this carrier, but he seriously violated the municipal contract — he used a bus in Seversk that is listed on a route in Tomsk.
According to the website of the Center for Organization and Control of Passenger Transportation, route No. 4 is serviced by the company Lana. It also operates route No. 11. As for route No. 53, the contract for its service was won by the company RegionSibir. It also recently took over route No. 13/14.
The mayor added that the carriers have been given 10 days to eliminate all complaints. If this does not happen, contracts with both will be terminated.
