Rostov paralyzed by 10-point traffic jams after blizzard
Traffic jams began forming in Rostov far earlier than the usual evening rush hour.
According to data from the Yandex Maps service, around 4:00 PM in Rostov-on-Don, traffic jams formed with an intensity rated at the maximum 10 points. This happened long before the traditional evening rush hour.
Congestion formed in virtually all districts of the city, including the center, the Western and Northern residential areas, as well as Sholokhov Street and the Selmash neighborhood. The most difficult situation developed on Vavilov Street, where a road traffic accident was recorded. According to an eyewitness, on the uphill section towards Vavilov, there is currently «a jam of skidding trucks with trailers, semis, and stuck fuel tankers.» The cause is cited as a lack of snow removal on this stretch of road.
Earlier, the regional authorities of the Don area appealed to drivers, asking them not to use personal vehicles without good reason. The reason for the appeal was poor visibility and icy roads.
