In Rostov-on-Don, transport operators will be required to install temperature sensors in buses for remote climate control. The decision was announced by Mayor Alexander Skryabin after complaints from residents about non-working air conditioners.
According to the mayor, the new requirements will be included in municipal contracts, which expire next year. «Next year the municipal contracts expire, so the department will work out the issue of installing temperature sensors in the next contracts,» Skryabin said.
Earlier, employees of the transport department inspected buses and found 52 violations of contract conditions. Of these, 17 pertained to non-working air conditioners.
An inspection was also conducted on 20 bus routes in Rostov. Although air conditioners were working in many buses, coolness was only felt in the front part of the cabin, while it became hot in the rear due to the running engine.
