Using the «Road Bailiff» system, bailiffs have collected over 15 million rubles from Tomsk debtors in one year, the regional office of the Federal Bailiff Service (UFSSP) told reporters.

«Debtors often, while driving a car, do not think that heading to the dacha they will be stopped and their car will be seized and towed to an impound lot. Just the other day, a female driver driving the family car was stopped. She paid 200,000 rubles (approximately $2,200) for her husband to be able to leave. That is, people have money, they just don»t want to pay,« said chief bailiff for the region Alena Romanova.

In total in 2025, the «Road Bailiff» task force seized 300 cars. Thanks to this, over 15 million rubles were collected.

For several years now, joint teams of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) and bailiffs have been working on Tomsk highways. They use the mobile «Road Bailiff» system. It «catches» debtors for alimony, taxes, loans, traffic fines, and utility payments. Inspectors stop the debtor«s car, after which bailiffs offer to pay the debt on the spot. If he refuses, bailiffs may seize the vehicle. In total, two »Road Bailiff« systems are used in the region. Whether the bailiff service will purchase new systems in 2026 is not yet known.
