Preobrazhensky Road Repair Organizer Vanishes After Fundraising
No one showed up for the repair
The promised road repair in Preobrazhensky never took place. On the evening of Friday, August 14, residents of the microdistrict arrived at the entrance from Pyotr Podzolkov Street by 7:00 p.m. — the exact place and time set by Gennady, the organizer of the fundraising for crushed stone. But there was no equipment, no materials, and no Gennady himself.

An hour before the appointed time, a troubling signal appeared in the local chat — Gennady had hidden his username on Telegram.
The photo was sent at 7:18 p.m.
«Gennady, do you think that if you hid your nick, you won»t be tagged?« one resident wrote.
A bit earlier, chat participants discussed a collective police report against the fundraiser
He did not respond to messages. By seven in the evening, several people arrived at the site. But there was no one to meet them.
Residents also wrote about the calls at 7 p.m.
«Pina and I arrived, looked at each other, and left,» one participant said.
The fundraiser claims he is already returning the money
Others drove around neighboring streets — no work was being done anywhere.
Refunding the money is also not going smoothly
«I»m leaving, the movie«s off,» one resident wrote.
The chat began to sum up.
«I»ll say responsibly that now the same media can write that our fluffy Gennady deceived us. There will be no road,« one user concluded.
Another participant reminded that Gennady had essentially not agreed with anyone specifically — he simply wrote «Friday, 7:00 p.m.»
Gennady only appeared in the chat more than an hour later — at 8:16 p.m. According to him, the work was postponed due to the risk of falling «under several administrative articles,» and the supplier refused to deliver materials.
Residents were skeptical of the explanation.
To the excuse about lack of communication, they immediately retorted:
«But hiding the nick — that was communication?»
One chat participant pointed out a contradiction: Gennady cited media hype, due to which the supplier allegedly refused — but he himself created that hype by giving interviews to TV channels.
«To be fair, Gennady said the suppliers backed out because of media hype. Let me remind you that the media hype was created by Gennady. He»s the only one showing up there every day,« wrote Olga, one of the active chat participants.

One resident summed up the general mood with a phrase many supported:
«Those guys who added gravel last week are probably in shock themselves at what a thriller their initiative has turned into.»
Then residents demanded their money back.
«Gennady, let»s do this: you transfer all the funds back to people now, and we calmly forget about everything,« one resident suggested.
«Dude, really, just return those sums already,» another user supported.
«Return the money to people, and they will figure out how to use it and where to send it. That»s all people are demanding from you right now,« another chat participant insisted.
The administrator of the microdistrict«s Telegram channel was more categorical:
«Gennady, end this show and return the money to everyone who made transfers.»
In response, Gennady suggested that those «who don»t believe« send their bank details — and promised to return the money. But he immediately divided residents into »two camps.«
«Four people want both to get their money back and to build the road. That doesn»t happen; no one will deliver materials to you for free,« he wrote.
Several people sent their details in private messages. By night, no one had received any money.
«So, did anyone get transfers? I got nothing,» one participant wrote around 10:00 p.m.
Then residents tried to call. According to one chat participant, Gennady was called about ten times from different numbers — he did not pick up. When he finally answered, he swore at the callers.
Gennady himself wrote in the chat at four in the morning. He claimed that the call came at 11:30 p.m., that he spoke politely, and that he would hand over a recording of the conversation to the police along with a defamation complaint. He also published a screenshot that he said confirmed refunds to seven users.
«And transfers of funds have already gone out to users who don»t believe the road will happen. Seven people requested refunds,« Gennady wrote.
However, in the morning, those who sent their details wrote that they had received nothing.
«Where is the refund for Svetlana and Alia? They sent 1,000 rubles ($12). What is this clownery again?» one chat participant complained.
The channel administrator summed up in the morning:
«Gennady, good morning. Return the money to everyone, and we»ll sort out the road somehow.«
Some residents stated their intention to contact the police.
«Next week we»ll write and go file a statement. We«ll give him the weekend to reconsider,» one participant wrote.
