Power line damage halts trams in Yekaterinburg

The city«s transport department reported that the cause is damage to the overhead contact line. The incident occurred at 4:42 PM, and specialists are currently working on site.

«Affected routes include Nos. 6, 7, 10, 13, 17, 21, 23. There is a traffic delay on the section before the Krylov stop in the direction of the Youth Palace stop,» the transport department«s statement said.

Judging by video shot by one of our readers, all passengers were asked to disembark—the carriages are empty.

Updated: Tram traffic was restored two and a half hours after the breakdown.

Last week, tram traffic came to a halt in the Uralmash district. The carriages stopped because a passenger fell ill on one of them. An ambulance was called for him, but unfortunately, he could not be saved—the passenger died.

Reckless drivers paralyze tram operations much more frequently. For instance, during the severe frost in mid-January, a driver of a car-sharing vehicle pulled onto the tracks and got stuck, halting tram traffic.
