Passenger Buses Between Yugra and Yamalo-Nenets Canceled Due to Extreme Cold

Due to abnormally cold weather, the authorities of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra) and the neighboring Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug have decided to limit the number of passenger buses operating between the regions.

Transportation between Strezhevoy and Nizhnevartovsk is restricted due to safety threats. This is reported by the Telegram channel «Transport Tsekh. Yugra.»

«In conditions of anomalous cold, road services and the city administration have decided to minimize the number of buses on the route on January 23 and completely halt traffic on January 24 and 25,» the message says.

Rescuers remind that long trips in frost are associated with the risk of equipment breakdowns and hypothermia. Passengers are asked to understand the situation. Detailed information can be obtained from carriers« dispatch centers.

Earlier, the EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations) department for Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra warned residents about anomalous weather in the region. The air temperature is 15 degrees Celsius (27 degrees Fahrenheit) below the climatic norm. Rescuers advise limiting time outdoors, especially for children and the elderly.
