Recently, Omsk authorities stated that air conditioning in buses is not a mandatory requirement. Under the news on NGS55.RU, many comments gathered — locals are debating whether they are needed in transport.
Some people write that in such weather, the interiors become too hot and not everyone can endure the rides.
«When it was +34°C (93°F) outside, the car was sitting in the sun. I looked at the alarm»s temperature in the cabin — it showed +67°C (153°F)… In such weather, only people with iron health can ride in a metal box.«
Others note that even in new buses, the installed air conditioning often does not work.
«The joke is also that some new buses also have installed air conditioning. But they simply don»t turn it on. Why bother?… People will ride anyway. And the driver doesn«t need it either, let him lose consciousness right behind the wheel from heatstroke.»
There are also those who believe that in summer you can do without air conditioning.
«In a bus, you can open a window and at speed it will blow through. I have air conditioning in my office, but I don»t turn it on because it blows too hard.«
Some compared the situation with utility problems.
«So, soon they»ll say that hot water in summer is also not mandatory for Omsk residents. Wash in the Irtysh or at home in cold water, after all it«s summer. And ordinary people pay money for all this.»
There were also complaints about the operation of public transport itself.
«Yes, in Omsk, the buses themselves are also not mandatory, judging by how they run.»
Air conditioning in transport does exist and is sometimes turned on.
«Without air conditioning it is very hard. The roof hatches are weak, the side windows are small. I ride route 33. Sometimes they turn on the air conditioning. Though rarely.»
