Oka Bridge 16.7% Complete Despite Billions Invested

In the Ryazan district, construction of a bridge across the Oka River continues. Currently, the construction readiness of the facility is 16.7%, reports the Ministry of Transport and Motor Roads of the Ryazan Region.
In addition to the main bridge, work is simultaneously underway on an 82-meter overpass across the road between the villages of Shumash and Dubrovichi, and a 92-meter bridge over the Bystrets stream. A total of 115 people and 82 pieces of equipment are involved.
In 2026, builders plan to fully complete the overpass near the village of Dubrovichi and the bridge over the Bystrets stream. At the main bridge site across the Oka, this year 20 supports are to be erected.
The work is being carried out by the Moscow joint-stock company Dorogi i Mosty (Roads and Bridges). The company won the corresponding tender in March 2024, and the contract value was 32.8 billion rubles ($328 million at current rates).
According to the design documentation, the bridge over the Oka will be built on the section from the Sheremetyevo–Dyadkovo–Vyshgorod–Naumovo–Gaverdovo highway to the Ryazan (from the village of Shumash)–Spassk-Ryazansky–Izhevskoye–Lakash route. The facility is planned to be completed by October 20, 2031. The contract states that the customer and contractor are not entitled to suspend work.
The total length of the bridge over the Oka will be 1,110.25 meters, the bridge over the Bystrets stream — 91.96 meters, and the overpass over highway 61K-011 — 82.43 meters.
The project also includes outdoor lighting, drainage networks, construction of right-bank and left-bank approaches, noise protection screens, a transport security control point, landscaping and greening, as well as the installation of navigation signals and other related works.
