Mayor's Office on Metro Extension to Novosibirsk Academgorodok

The Novosibirsk mayor«s office has responded to whether extending the metro to Academgorodok is planned. The city is still working on adjusting the general metro scheme.

As reported by NGS in the mayor«s office press center, current transport planning documents do not provide for the construction of a metro or tram line to Academgorodok.

«The main emphasis for passenger transport in Academgorodok is planned on urban railway routes as part of forming a transport framework from main rail transport types,» the mayor«s office notes.

Work on designing and building other metro stations and their deadlines will be determined after adjusting the general metro development scheme. It is being developed to identify the most in-demand directions and select locations for stations.

The region«s chief architect Ivan Fatkin reported that four main options are being considered. Among them is a ring scheme, but it likely will not be implemented. Preliminary options have already been sent for verification using mathematical modeling.
