A busy street in central Nizhny Novgorod, Kostina Street, which connects Belinsky Street and Gorky Square, has been closed indefinitely. The restriction is in effect near the historic building of the Aviation Technical School, the city administration reports.

The closure is due to emergency work on utility networks. The restriction will last until the work is completed. The zone can be bypassed via Belinsky, Krupskaya, and Bolshaya Pokrovskaya streets.
«At 2 Kostina Street, repair work is being carried out on a cold water pipeline. The damaged section has been isolated. There is no leakage, and ice removal from the road is underway. The work is planned to be completed within 24 hours, after which traffic on the section will be opened,» the city administration commented on the incident.
Last week, authorities reported when they plan to fully reopen traffic on the overpass near the Myzinsky Bridge in Nizhny Novgorod. In mid-January, Nizhny Novgorod residents complained for several consecutive days about traffic jams at the crossing: the road was narrowed due to the overpass repair, and the closed section was covered with snow.
According to the Department of Transport, work is temporarily not being carried out due to a planned technical pause because of temperature conditions. The pause is required by regulations to ensure the work is done properly.
