Irkutsk's Tram 5 to Solnechny Halted Again, Third Time This Month

Service on Irkutsk's tram route 5, connecting Volzhskaya and the Solnechny neighborhood, has been suspended again due to repair work, marking the third disruption in January.

Tram No. 5, which runs between the «Volzhskaya» stop and the Solnechny neighborhood, is again out of service. According to the press service of the Irkutsk administration, the route was halted due to repair work near the building at 239/8 Baikalskaya Street.

This marks the third time this month that tram service to Solnechny has been stopped. On January 10, workers from Vodokanal (the water utility) carried out «unscheduled work» near the «Releiny Zavod» (Relay Plant) stop, and on January 15, a sewer line burst in the same area.

The reason for halting Tram No. 5 in Irkutsk on the morning of 27 January was an accident on the cold water supply network. As reported to an IrCity journalist by the press service of the Irkutsk mayor«s office, water had spilled onto the roadway. Vodokanal crews are on site.
