Irkutsk to Receive Second Admiral Trolleybus

The production company «Transportnye Sistemy» (Transport Systems) has assembled and delivered an updated «Admiral» trolleybus with increased autonomous range to Irkutsk. This will be the second such vehicle in the city. The first one operates on route No. 3 between the Marata suburb and the Solnechny microdistrict, according to the company«s Telegram channel.
The first «Admiral» has been operating in Irkutsk since 2023. Its purchase cost the city administration nearly 33 million rubles (approximately $330,000 at current rates).
The cost of the new vehicle is estimated at 38.4 million rubles (approximately $384,000 at current rates). «Irkutskgortrans» purchased it with its own funds. The press service of the Irkutsk city administration does not yet know when and on which route the new trolleybus will enter service. It is necessary to conduct a technical inspection, insure the vehicle, and register it.
«Admiral» is one of the newest trolleybus models in Russia, produced at the Engels Electric Transport Plant (part of the structure of «PK Transportnye Sistemy»). It is designed to carry approximately 100 passengers, including those with disabilities. For the convenience of mobility-impaired citizens, it is equipped with a special place for a wheelchair with fixation and notification systems, a retractable ramp, and an audio device for communication with the driver. Moreover, the trolleybus can change its tilt and floor level.
The vehicle is also equipped with an electronic suspension control system and a touch button for door opening. The driver«s seat has maximum visibility and high ergonomics. It is also equipped with a video surveillance system for passenger boarding and alighting zones and road situation monitoring.
Furthermore, the trolleybus model purchased by «Irkutskgortrans» has lithium-titanate batteries that provide it with an autonomous range of up to 20 kilometers (approximately 12.4 miles).
