Independent Gas Stations to Get Fuel Directly from Rosneft

Small independent gas stations will receive fuel directly from Rosneft under direct contracts. This gasoline and diesel will be sent to areas where there are no filling stations of the federal company. This was announced by the governor of Irkutsk Oblast, Igor Kobzev.

According to him, the region«s industrial enterprises have formed their fuel requirements and are now interacting with the Ministry of Economic Development to ensure these volumes are available. This refers to gold mining companies, timber processing, coal mining, the railway, and logistics companies.

«In the near future we will send this data to the Russian Energy Ministry. I thank the region«s fuel operators for actively joining the work to overcome the crisis. The situation has now been significantly stabilized, but we are not reducing the intensity of work,» assured Igor Kobzev.

He recommended that private gas stations sign contracts for fuel supply directly with major market players.

Irkutsk Oblast faced a fuel shortage in mid-June. Because of this, the head of the region, Igor Kobzev, urged residents to use gasoline as sparingly as possible and to drive less in private vehicles to overcome the fuel crisis quickly. The fuel shortage in the region exceeded 80% by the end of the month.

After this, the region introduced a high alert mode, began regulating queues at Rosneft gas stations, and also banned the sale of gasoline into canisters and other containers. From 3 July, private companies began gradually resuming retail gasoline sales. The first were Kraysneft and BRK, and a few days later OMNI joined them.

Later, Kobzev identified a list of companies that can refuel out of turn, and allowed residents of remote areas and farmers to fill fuel into canisters.

Over the past month, certain types of fuel in Irkutsk have risen in price by more than 20 rubles (less than $1 at current rates).
