Highway between Volgograd and Kamyshin urgently closed due to bad weather
A large section of the federal highway R-228 Syzran–Saratov–Volgograd has been urgently closed due to bad weather, according to the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM). The special regime is in effect from 9 p.m. today until «further notice».
The restrictions apply to the stretch between kilometers 512 and 672 — from the boundary of Kamyshin to Volgograd. Traffic has been closed for scheduled and freight vehicles.
«In connection with the onset of adverse weather conditions, from 9 p.m. until further notice, a temporary traffic restriction has been introduced for freight and scheduled vehicles on the section of the federal public highway R-228 in the Volgograd region from kilometer 512 to 622. Be attentive and careful!» the message says.
It is recalled that a similar order was introduced on the night of January 29–30: the same section of the highway was then closed not only to trucks but also to passenger cars.
