Head-On Crash Near Pyatigorsk After Solid Line Overtake

On the afternoon of February 3, a serious accident occurred on the Lermontov–Cherkessk highway, leaving four people injured. The crash happened at about 15:30 at the 27th kilometer of the road in the Predgorny district (Stavropol Krai, Russia).

According to preliminary data from the State Traffic Inspectorate (Gosavtoinspektsiya), a 35-year-old driver of a Renault, traveling from Cherkessk towards Lermontov, in violation of traffic rules and road markings, drove into the oncoming lane. There, the foreign car collided head-on with a Lada Granta.

The impact was severe. As a result, the 43-year-old driver of the Lada and three passengers — aged 22, 43, and 45 — sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital in Pyatigorsk.

Traffic inspectors clarified that the Renault driver is a resident of Zheleznovodsk, with a driving experience of 17 years, had not been held administratively liable in the last two years, and was sober at the time of the accident.

An investigation is currently underway into the accident. All circumstances of the collision are being established.
