Governor Requests Police Assistance for M-4 Highway Repairs

This year, repair works will be carried out on the M-4 ‘Don’ highway. To reduce the number of traffic jams, police assistance is needed. The topic of road reconstruction was raised at a meeting of the Board of the Don Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
Governor Yuri Slyusar reported that the reconstruction of the M-4 ‘Don’ will continue in 2026. The day before, he met with the Chairman of the Board of ‘Avtodor’, Vyacheslav Petushenko.
“They have committed to try to complete the large-scale capital repair of the M-4 ‘Don’ highway section in Rostov Oblast, expanding it to six lanes, by 2027,” stated Yuri Slyusar.
He asked the MVD Directorate to organize patrols on problematic sections of the highway because road works pose a risk of traffic jams. The governor reminded of the high transit flow on the M-4, especially in summer when people go on vacation.
Road works on the highway regularly cause traffic jams. Recently, drivers were warned that the traffic pattern will change on the M-4 near Rostov. At the 964th kilometer, an overpass will be repaired starting January 27.
In May 2025, reconstruction began on the highway section from the 933rd to the 1024th kilometer – from Kamensk-Shakhtinsky to the Aksay bypass. The works were promised to be completed precisely in 2027. After the repair, passage on this section of the highway will become toll-based.
