A trip along the Rezh Highway showed that at the Varta gas station, 92-octane and 95-octane gasoline are sold at 110 rubles ($1) per liter. At most other gas stations in the region, fuel was completely absent.
In the settlement of Monetny, gasoline is also unavailable, reflecting the shortage.

The Ural branch of the Bank of Russia reported that in June 2026, annual inflation in Sverdlovsk Oblast accelerated to 6.9%. The main reason cited was the rise in motor fuel prices.

«The increase in motor fuel prices was due to heightened seasonal demand, which coincided with a temporary reduction in supply due to repairs at some oil refineries,» the Ural branch of the Bank of Russia noted.
Despite the overall rise in prices, eggs, dairy products, and cheeses became cheaper in the region thanks to increased production. The cost of household appliances (televisions and electric drills) also fell due to weak demand and the ruble«s strengthening.
In Yekaterinburg, a debate has arisen about a possible ban on selling gasoline in canisters. Many motorists believe that such purchases make queues at gas stations longer and increase waiting times.
Fuel problems in the region began in late June. Drivers noticed that gas stations were emptying and prices were rising, and in many cities of the oblast, people still have to stand in lines.
Against the backdrop of the fuel crisis, residents of the Urals have shown increased interest in electric cars and hybrids. Such vehicles attracted great attention from visitors to the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg.
