Gas, diesel, and gasoline prices surge in Kuzbass

The cost of gas motor fuel soared following the rise in diesel and gasoline amid the fuel crisis. According to selective statistics from Kemerovostat, which the NGS42.RU editorial team studied on Tuesday, July 21, gas prices jumped by 2.5 rubles ($0.03 at current rates) per liter since the start of the year.

The fuel crisis that hit the country and Kuzbass after attacks on Russian refineries has led not only to higher diesel and gasoline prices, but also to a rise in the less demanded fuel — gas. According to statistics, since the start of the year this energy resource has risen from 27.9 to 30.4 rubles per liter ($0.31 to $0.34 at current rates), and compressed natural gas from 29.7 to 32.2 rubles ($0.33 to $0.36 at current rates).

Last year saw the opposite situation — a prolonged decline. In January 2025, gas prices gradually fell from 30.8 rubles to 27.5 per liter ($0.34 to $0.31 at current rates).

Gas, though less popular, is still in demand not only among motorists; it also fuels many public transport vehicles — buses, garbage trucks, and even agricultural machinery and household appliances.

Rosstat, the Federal State Statistics Service, calculated that gasoline prices in the region remain among the lowest in Siberia. Since the start of the year, its price has risen by 6.78 rubles ($0.08 at current rates) to 68.89 rubles per liter ($0.77 at current rates).

Currently, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is checking filling stations for price gouging. Violators face fines, and in some cases imprisonment.
