Flight delay strands Volgograd residents at airport overnight

Volgograd residents who decided to fly to Dubai on yesterday«s flight had to spend the night at the airport: due to flight restrictions, their plane was held at the gate all night and, according to the schedule, won»t be released even in the morning.

Recall that last night, a drone threat regime was introduced in the region, as reported by the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM): according to the Defense Ministry, during this period, 4 drones were shot down over Volgograd Oblast. At 23:24, for security reasons, Rosaviatsiya announced temporary restrictions at Stalingrad Airport.

If the online board is to be believed, only the flight to Dubai was affected, which was scheduled to depart on January 21 at 23:20. The departure time was moved to 17:00 on January 22 — a delay of over 17.5 hours. The airport reopening was announced at 6:11, but the delay is also due to the end of the aircraft crew«s working hours.

By the way, last weekend, passengers on a resort charter to Hurghada found themselves in a similar situation, having to wait for their departure for over 24 hours. They complained not only about the delays but also about the conditions: all this time in the waiting hall, according to them, there was hellish cold, due to which people slept in the toilets.
