Mayor Eduard Sosnin wrote about the new vehicle«s appearance in the city on social media. His photos show that the three-axle bus stands out not only for its greater length and number of wheels but also for special decoration honoring the 100th anniversary of bus service in Perm, which began on July 9, 1926.

With 51 seating positions, the extended bus offers increased passenger capacity.

“This is the first three-axle bus in Russia, and it will be used on our regular routes. We will assess how it performs under our conditions and test its suitability for city roads. In the future, we will consider increasing their number in Perm,” said Mayor Eduard Sosnin.

After being driven to Perm, the bus is being prepared for service on city routes. It is being equipped with climate control systems and media panels, navigation control and passenger flow sensors, as well as validators and Bluetooth beacons for fare payment.

“We are glad to be the first to test this bus. I hope the results will be positive, and passengers will appreciate the greater capacity of this vehicle,” said Anatoly Putin, head of Perm«s transport department.

This is the first serial bus of the Volgabus-62710.G4 model. Its prototype was assembled in early 2025 and was exhibited at the VI International TransportFest in St. Petersburg, the 2025 Ural Auto Salon in Chelyabinsk, the PromEnergoVolga exhibition in Volgograd, and the gas engine forum in Sochi. There, the new vehicle was presented by the plant«s general director Anatoly Bakulin.

“A three-axle bus is a 15-meter vehicle. Three axles don«t exert as much pressure on the road, so it doesn»t damage it. Comfortable transportation conditions are created because there are twice as many seats as in a regular bus,” noted Anatoly Bakulin at the presentation.

Representatives of Volgabus have nicknamed the first three-axle bus of their own production “Hyperbus”. In total, it accommodates 130 passengers, with seating for 51 of them. After Perm, similar buses are expected in ten other Russian cities.

The first gas-powered three-axle bus in Perm was purchased by the auto enterprise ‘City-Bus’. It serves city routes No. 4 ‘UDS Molot — Nagorny’, 40 ‘Perm II — Nagorny’, 47 ‘Bakharevka Airport — Gravel Plant’, and 59 ‘Yubileiny — Infectious Disease Hospital’. On which of these routes the large-capacity bus will operate is not yet known.

The last three-axle buses in Perm ceased operation in summer 2020. A year earlier, articulated buses also disappeared from the city. Since the beginning of 2025, articulated buses have been operating again in Perm. They, like three-axle buses, are being reintroduced for passenger convenience: this way authorities and carriers are increasing the number of passengers carried amid a driver shortage.
