Federal Highways Reopen After Blizzard in Samara Region

Weather conditions led to the closure of sections on two federal highways in Samara Oblast.
On Saturday morning, January 31, traffic was restored on sections of federal roads in Samara Oblast. Restrictions were in effect all night on two highways:
M-5 «Ural» (approach to Ulyanovsk): sections from km 294+500 to km 294+660 and from km 295+100 to km 328+400;
R-241 «Kazan — Buinsk — Ulyanovsk» (approach to Samara): section from km 326+367 to km 400+031.
The highways had to be closed for safety reasons. The region experienced adverse weather conditions: poor visibility, snow, and strong wind. Now, however, the bad weather has passed.
«On January 31, from 08:00 Moscow time, sections of the M-5 »Ural« highway, approach to Ulyanovsk, and R-241 are open for all vehicle traffic,» reported the Federal State Institution «Povolzhye Road Administration» (FKU Povolzhuprаvtodor).
Updated: The highways remained open for exactly one hour. From 10:00, on the same sections of the highways, repeated restrictions were imposed due to poor weather conditions. Traffic is closed for route and heavy-duty vehicles.
