Fake Bank Card Payment Ban Alarms Voronezh Residents
Fake comments purporting to be from real people claim bank card payments are impossible at Voronezh gas stations, a debunking site reported July 21.

A fake claim that it is allegedly impossible to pay for gasoline with a bank card at gas stations in the Voronezh region is being spread via comments in local Telegram channels. These messages are false, the War on Fakes group reported on July 21.

In the fake comments, supposedly real people describe how they could not pay at gas stations with a card — for example, on the M-4 Don highway. Heart-wrenching stories are also added about having to borrow cash or wait hours for a chance to pay. Such «complaints» mainly concern PPR (ППР), the operator of fuel cards for businesses.
War on Fakes notes that all such comments are of the same type, and sometimes completely identical. The gas stations mentioned in them sometimes do not operate at all in the Voronezh region. There are also references to the M-11 highway, which also does not pass through our region.
«In fact, there are no problems with paying for fuel by card in the Voronezh region. The situation is stable, terminals are operating normally. This is a targeted spam attack using bots and fake accounts. Their goal is to create artificial hype, force people to withdraw cash, and sow panic,» the rebuttal states.
