Don residents urged to avoid M-4 highway during snowfall
Heavy snowfall in the Don region is expected to severely reduce visibility on highways like the M-4.
Sergey Bondarenko, head of Novoshakhtinsk, urged local residents to refrain from trips, especially on the M-4 «Don» highway, as «conditions may be extremely dangerous.» Heavy snowfall is expected in the region — visibility on the roads will deteriorate.
Traffic police officers in Rostov Region are working in enhanced mode, the department«s press service reported. Drivers are advised not to exceed the speed limit, maintain distance and side intervals, and brake early at pedestrian crossings and intersections.
From January 23 to 26, the region will experience cold and snowy weather. Forecasters predict a blizzard, freezing rain, ice on roads, and wet snow accumulation on wires and trees. Rostov«s utility services are on high alert.
