Dismantling of railway bridge ends decades of bottlenecks

In January, traffic on the Solikamsk Highway in front of the Chusovskoy Bridge was closed several times overnight. The reason was preparation for demolition of the old railway overpass directly in front of the bridge. A transport correspondent from 59.RU examined the situation on site.

Now trains and commuter trains running here travel on the new railway bridge, built nearby. Road workers have already begun dismantling the support on which the span rested. It was this support that created the «bottleneck» in front of the Chusovskoy Bridge, which caused the roadway not only to narrow but also to sharply zigzag. Maneuvers to bypass the support have repeatedly caused accidents and multi-hour traffic jams.

The editorial board of 59.RU sent a request to the regional Ministry of Transport about when they plan to build a direct passage from the Chusovskoy Bridge towards the center of Perm and open traffic on it. At the time of publication, no response from the ministry had been received.
