Tyumen authorities have explained why plans to create a highway on Melnikayte Street are not being implemented yet. The main reason is the lack of funds for the construction of two planned large interchanges.

The first facility is to be built at the intersection with Republic Street. According to the project, a section of Melnikayte Street is planned to be routed underground, creating a tunnel under the existing road.

The second interchange is planned at the crossroads with 50 Let Oktyabrya Street. There, a flyover is intended to be built over the existing roundabout.

According to the city administration, the implementation of both projects is estimated at over two billion rubles (approximately $22.2 million at current rates) at old prices. The possible timeframe for the appearance of new road facilities is 2035, but only on condition that necessary funding is allocated.

In addition to the interchanges, the plans for the development of Melnikayte Street include the construction of overground and underground pedestrian crossings, as well as a number of other infrastructure facilities.
