Construction of Gagarin Avenue Duplicate: Project Stages
Work on creating the duplicate of Gagarin Avenue, which will become the city«s first toll highway, is actively continuing. The current completion status of the project is assessed as follows: the second stage is 38% complete for its first phase and 61% for its second, while the third stage is 52% complete.
At the construction sites, the bulk of utility networks—water mains, gas pipelines, and communication lines—have already been relocated. Simultaneously, power supply systems are being installed, lighting poles are being erected, and foundations for transformer substations, road signs, and noise barriers are being built.
As part of the third stage, an overpass above the R-158 highway «Nizhny Novgorod—Saratov» has been constructed and opened for construction traffic. During the first phase of the second stage, the superstructure for an overpass above the Olgino—Bolshaya Yelnya road has also been assembled.
Preparations are currently underway for the construction of the interchange between the duplicate road and Larina Street. In the near future, the construction of a temporary bypass road will begin to organize traffic during the main construction period.
The toll road is planned to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2029. For residents of settlements adjacent to the new route, the Ministry of Transport has provided benefits—free travel or special tariffs.
