Chita opens criminal case over embezzlement in canteen repair at ZabZD

A criminal case has been opened in Chita over the embezzlement of money by a contractor during repairs at a facility of the Zabaikalskaya Railway. This was reported on January 26 on the Telegram channel of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor«s Office.

«The East Siberian Transport Prosecutor»s Office conducted an inspection of the scope and quality of work performed during the major overhaul of railway infrastructure facilities. It was found that during the installation of the ventilation system in one of the domestic buildings, the fire protection materials and equipment stipulated in the design and estimate documentation, worth over 370,000 rubles (approximately $4,100 at current rates), were not used. Based on the materials of the prosecutor«s inspection, the investigative body has opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (embezzlement of another»s property through fraud, committed on a large scale),« the message states.

The press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor«s Office clarified to the correspondent of Chita.Ru that this concerns the repair of the canteen at the operational locomotive depot of ZabZD (where drivers eat) in the city of Belogorsk, Amur Region. The contractor was LLC »Prime« from Moscow.

The press service of the Zabaikalskaya Railway declined to comment on the report about the criminal case.
