Chelyabinsk Mayor Orders Fix for Flooding Under Bridge
Chelyabinsk Mayor Alexei Loshkin ordered the Road Committee to find a solution to the flooding of the passage near the Rodnik shopping center, calling the situation systemic.

The problem of flooding of the passage under the bridge near the Rodnik shopping center and the Manhattan residential complex was discussed on 20 July at a staff meeting in the Chelyabinsk administration. Mayor Alexei Loshkin characterized the situation as systemic and instructed the relevant committee to develop a project.
The road floods after increased water discharge from the Shershnevskoye Reservoir or heavy rain.

«I gave an instruction today to the Road Committee to take [the problem] into work, make a corresponding project, discuss with experts, specialists, and find a technical solution,» the mayor said.
Among possible options, according to Loshkin, is raising the road level.
«Actually, the passage is quite high, and passenger cars [even after raising] will definitely pass through in height. Let the specialists answer to what level [the road needs to be raised] so that we get rid of this problem. I think that next year we will solve this problem,» he added.
The passage under the bridge is regularly closed due to flooding. The last time this happened was on 9 July — due to a downpour and increased water discharge from the Shershnevskoye Reservoir. Similar situations also occurred in June and March of this year.
