Cable car planned for Chernigovskaya Embankment in Nizhny Novgorod

In Nizhny Novgorod, a cable car is planned to stretch between Chernigovskaya Embankment and Barminskaya Street near the IT campus. As reported by NN.RU in the UrbanTech Group (GC UrbanTech), the company has been working on the issue of transport accessibility in this area, and research has selected the optimal solution.

The UrbanTech Group is working on ensuring transport accessibility in the area of Chernigovskaya Embankment. Specialists calculated the projected passenger flow and developed an architectural and planning concept. Research showed that the optimal solution for this section would be the construction of a cable car.

«This choice is due to the specifics of the area: a developing territory with restrictions on the construction of traditional transport highways requires innovative approaches. The cable car will provide a reliable and environmentally friendly connection between Chernigovskaya Street and key transport arteries, without disrupting the existing infrastructure,» noted UrbanTech.

The regional Ministry of Transport also noted that the project«s implementation is aimed at developing transport infrastructure and increasing the connectivity of built-up areas on the right bank of the Oka River.

According to the architectural and planning concept, the cable car stations will be integrated into the existing and planned development. They will be closed circuits with zones for passenger boarding and alighting, «fully adapted to the architectural appearance of the area.» Currently, the territory planning project is at the adjustment stage.

Plans to build two funiculars on the slope near Chernigovskaya Embankment became known in 2024. Last autumn, documentation on territory planning appeared.
