Bashkiria Proposes Musical Road Strips with Local Melodies
Director from Bashkiria Aynur Askarov proposed that the republic adopt the idea of rumble strips with a musical effect. In his view, if installed at the entrances to the region, such markings could become a «calling card of Bashkortostan.»
«Every district could have its own melody: somewhere «Tugan Yak» (Native Land), somewhere «Epipä» (a Bashkir folk song), somewhere the famous kurai (Bashkir wind instrument), and at the entrance to the republic — the anthem of Bashkortostan. There are many options, the main thing is to preserve the national flavor,» Askarov suggested.
As an example, the director cited musical markings on a section of the M-12 toll road in Vladimir Region, where when driving at the permitted speed, the car«s wheels produce the melody of the song »Kalinka«. It appeared there in 2025, a year earlier a similar solution was first used in Russia on the M-11 toll road.
According to the company Avtodor, such markings «prevent drivers from falling asleep at the wheel, encourage them to focus on the road, for example, when approaching a hazardous section».
Coordinator of the project «Road Inspection of the All-Russia People»s Front (ONF) / Map of Killed Roads« Alexander Vasilyev told colleagues from MSK1.RU that such markings «are often used in Europe, for example, in the Czech Republic».
«Apparently, Avtodor saw this and brought it to life. That«s great. But it»s important, of course, that roads in general have markings that are clearly visible in bad weather ... [But] toll roads are opened so that people can still drive at higher speeds. Sometimes even more than what is indicated on signs. People have exceeded and will continue to exceed. Especially since legislators have taught motorists that you can drive at a speed 20 km/h over the limit. And that is not considered a violation. It«s a concession given to everyone. Yes, speed limits are important, but until the necessary changes are made to the Code of Administrative Offences (CAO), and there are no large fines for speeding, the picture will not change drastically,» the expert believes.
