Avtodor Warns Nizhny Novgorod Residents About Snowfalls on M-12 Highway

The state company Avtodor, which maintains the paid high-speed highway M-12 «Vostok», has appealed to drivers due to expected heavy snowfalls in Nizhny Novgorod Region over the weekend.
In Nizhny Novgorod, abnormal snowfalls that continued since the beginning of the week have temporarily ceased. However, according to weather forecasters, bad weather will resume on Saturday, January 31. Over two days, up to 30 centimeters (12 inches) of snow may fall in the region.
According to Avtodor data, several subjects of Central Russia will be under the influence of a powerful cyclone. The most intense precipitation is expected in Voronezh Region and in regions through which the M-12 highway passes, especially in Tatarstan.
Representatives of the state company said: «Traffic on our network is operating normally, however, in some places, short-term difficulties are possible due to weather conditions or road traffic accidents. Be vigilant! If possible, we recommend postponing long-distance trips during unfavorable weather conditions.»
Avtodor reminded that on the highway, there is a service of emergency commissioners to assist in case of accidents or other emergency situations. They can be contacted by dialing *2323. Currently, 164 crews are patrolling the highway.
