Authorities promise to fix flooded passage near Rodnik

Chelyabinsk Mayor Aleksei Loshkin called the flooding under the bridge near the Rodnik mall a systemic problem and tasked the Road Committee with finding a technical solution.

In Chelyabinsk, authorities promised to address the problem of flooding of the passage under the bridge near the Rodnik shopping and entertainment complex and the Manhattan residential complex, which floods during spills of the Miass River. The issue was discussed on Monday, July 20, at a staff meeting in the city administration. Mayor Aleksei Loshkin called the problem systemic. Its solution has been assigned to the Road Committee.

“I gave an order today to the Road Committee to take the problem into work, make a corresponding project, discuss with experts and specialists, and find a technical solution,” Aleksei Loshkin commented.

One of the options, according to him, is raising the level of the roadway.

“Actually, the passage there is quite high, and passenger cars [even after raising] will definitely pass in height. Let the specialists answer to what level [the road needs to be raised] so that we get rid of this problem. I think that next year we will solve this problem.”

Recall that the authorities announced another closure of the passage under the bridge on July 9, explaining it by the aftermath of the rain and increased water discharge from the Shershnevskoye Reservoir. A similar situation occurred in June and in March.
