Motorists are complaining en masse about a camera that began operating in July on the Bor Dam in Nizhny Novgorod region. Speeding fines have already started arriving.

According to motorists, the camera with a 50 km/h limit appeared near an overhead pedestrian crossing on the Bor section of the Nizhny Novgorod–Shakhunya highway.

«The sign has been there for a long time, they installed the camera the other day. At the dacha, all the neighbors are »blessed« with fines, my husband also got one,» wrote «Ponchik84» on the NN.RU forum.

«What justifies such a reduction in speed by almost half on an essentially suburban highway? Is it a pedestrian crossing or a residential zone? You already get tired on the road, and on top of everything else, you have to look out for absurdly placed signs,» Sergey fumed.

«I hope I got lucky, I was flying there the other day,» a motorist said.

«On Gagarin Street they put up several 50 km/h signs right where the cameras are. On the Arzamas highway, they installed a 50 km/h camera at a temporary repair site. Apparently, the quota for fines from cameras is not being met,» brooka believes.

Last year, new cameras began operating on the Oksky descent in Nizhny Novgorod. In the first weeks of operation, they recorded thousands of traffic violations. The total amount of fines exceeded 14 million rubles (approximately $155,600 at current rates).
