Yaroslavl mushroom pickers report porcini bounty after rains

In Yaroslavl Oblast, mushrooms have sprouted at the end of a rainy July. Foresters are proudly showing off their harvests. Clearings are rich with young porcini mushrooms and chanterelles. Residents have also noticed traces of wild animals.

Yaroslavl residents are sharing photos of their mushroom hauls on social media. Let«s take a look at what has grown at the forest edges.

“What can I tell you, mushroom pickers? The white ones are out,” wrote a Yaroslavl resident on 27 July.

“If only I knew where they go. On Sunday we found a dozen and about 20 rotten ones, but those don«t count—the worms found them first,” replied a city resident in the post»s comments.

“It«s raining today, but these little mushrooms made up for the bad mood! Small porcini are just starting to come up,” said one mushroom picker.

“When I left, I left two little ones behind. I think I«ll come back in a couple of days. I»ll see,” shared another in a mushroom pickers« group.

A resident of Yaroslavl Oblast who found kilograms of chanterelles noted that mushroom pickers are not alone in the forest—you can encounter animals too.

“It wasn«t without adventure—there were lots of bear tracks,” noted a local woman.

“I couldn«t resist and dashed off to scout. I haven»t seen such a graveyard of porcini in a long time; I only took the small ones, the rest stayed in the forest,” said one of the Yaroslavl foresters.
