Sochi tourist warns of cosmic prices, nightmare beach
Svetlana Amelkina, a tourist from Samara on holiday in Sochi, highlights the benefits of early booking and advises avoiding the crowded, rocky Riviera beach in favor of quieter spots in Adler and Vardane.

With the arrival of summer, many vacationers headed to the resorts of Krasnodar Krai. Samara resident Svetlana Amelkina is currently in Sochi. She told a correspondent for 63.RU what is happening there.

According to her calculations, just accommodation in Adler cost 41,000 rubles (about $456). But, according to Svetlana, she booked the guest house in advance, about four months before the trip.

«Seven days, six nights. A guest house on the second coastline, a two-bedroom family room with two balconies. That»s assuming we booked about four months in advance. Now the same room costs 60,000 rubles (about $667) or more,« said Svetlana.
The second point that our interlocutor drew attention to is the overcrowding of the beaches. According to Svetlana, tourists are unevenly distributed across recreation areas.
«The number of people on the beach depends on the distance from the center. At »Riviera«, for example, you can barely move. But this is a luxury with cosmic prices and a nightmare beach — there are huge sharp rocks on the bottom and swimming without shoes is impossible,» she explained.
In contrast to «Riviera», she spoke about the situation on beaches on the outskirts of Adler and in the village of Vardane.
«Here the number of people is reasonable. In general, not a single beach along the entire coast is empty. You can hardly meet any locals on the streets — just tourists,» Svetlana added.
The popularity of the beaches is also helped by the conditions in the Black Sea. According to Svetlana, the water is clean and warm, but for the last few days it hasn«t been possible to swim because of big waves.
