Resident of Langepas Harvests First Watermelons and Melons

Elena Kondrashina, a resident of Langepas, grew watermelons and melons at her own dacha in the North. The Yugra woman harvests such crops every year, setting records for fruit weight.

Elena posted photos of the first watermelon and melon to ripen in her greenhouse this season. The fruits reached a weight of about 2.5 kg (5.5 lb). After showing the watermelon’s scarlet flesh, Elena noted that she had missed its taste and aroma. She cut the first melon for a special occasion.

«I cut the first melon of the season. I kept holding out until my husband’s birthday and apparently held out too long. To my taste, it is a little overripe. I could have picked it a week earlier. This melon weighs 2,475 g (5.5 lb),» said the gardener.

We have previously reported how Elena Kondrashina turned her vegetable garden in the North into the most blooming greenhouse. The Langepas resident’s plot is overflowing with crops: watermelons, melons, giant pumpkins and sunflowers, Chinese cabbage, cherries, apple trees, sea buckthorn — and that is only part of the list. Alongside the fruit, the Yugra woman has laid out a beautiful garden with asters, violas, and petunias.
