Mushrooms in the forests of Novosibirsk could appear at the end of July. This is facilitated by heavy rainfall and lower temperatures.
“Currently only dry tree-dwelling toadstools are sticking out — from the Pluteaceae family. They make water for themselves from wood. For other mushrooms it is too dry and hot. Now it has rained in places, so we expect something to grow within a week,” explained Tatyana Bulenkova, an amateur mycologist and one of the authors of the Novosibirsk mushroom guide Mycology.su.
Meanwhile, tasty chanterelles can already be found in some places where heavy rain has fallen at least once in the past two weeks.
The first birch boletes in the region were found back in early June.
