The forecast for spring and summer in Central Russia, presented by meteorologist Evgeny Tishkovets on his Telegram channel, is fully applicable to Yaroslavl Region.
February, which began with anomalous frosts, will approach the climatic norm in the second decade, and in the third decade, the temperature will exceed the long-term average values by about two degrees Celsius (4°F).
Meteorological spring, defined by the stable transition of temperature above zero, is expected a week earlier than usual — around mid-March.
«The average temperature in March across almost the entire Russian Plain will be 3-4 degrees Celsius above normal (5-7°F above normal),» stated Evgeny Tishkovets.
The specialist warned that early warming could trigger extreme flooding and inundation of significant areas.
«If it weren»t for the anomalous snowdrifts acting as a natural «refrigerator», the process would have started much earlier,« the meteorologist explained.
The spring period as a whole is expected to be quite warm, with precipitation within the norm, although May may be relatively rainy.
Summer in the region is forecast to be hotter and drier compared to 2025, especially in July and August.
«This is not Armageddon, not the year 2010. Summer is shaping up to be comfortable for those who will be resting, and less comfortable for those who will be working,» Tishkovets noted.
Earlier, climatologist Vladimir Klimenko also presented his forecast for the summer of 2026.
