Kuzbass Children Barred from Artek and Southern Camps

Since the beginning of this year, about 40 schoolchildren from Kuzbass have vacationed at the now-closed Artek. As reported to the NGS42.RU editorial office by the Department of Youth Policy, there are currently no children from the region in Crimean camps, and those who managed to visit before the ban was introduced are not many.

As explained by the agency, in 2026, 39 children went to Artek, and another 9 schoolchildren vacationed at the Orlyonok center, located nearby on the Black Sea coast. According to social media, the latter continues to operate, and in general, some of the southern recreation centers continue to accept children, but there are currently no vacationers from Kemerovo Oblast there.

As our colleagues from Fontanka wrote, all the children«s trips took place before Crimea introduced a ban on admission to camps due to blackout risks. Back in June, the head of the republic signed a decree that limited booking of places in a whole list of recreational facilities until September 1 of this year. It is also indicated that Crimea is suspending children»s recreation for the third shift in advance, but may reinstate it if the situation improves.

Meanwhile, in St. Petersburg, parents complained that children who lost their holidays in Crimean camps risk not finding an alternative in their home region. In Kuzbass, however, as reported by the regional administration, the schedule for children«s recreation within the region has already been set. This summer, more than 700 hikes, 38 tent camps, and shifts for special-needs children are planned. Overall in the region, according to authorities, about 75,000 children are vacationing.
