A high alert regime has been introduced in Nizhnetavdinsky District, Tyumen Region, due to rising water levels in the Tavda River. According to Andrey Gorin, director of the regional Department of Civil Protection and Fire Safety, the water level has already reached the «unfavorable phenomenon» mark. If the rise continues to the «dangerous phenomenon» level, a state of emergency will be declared in the municipality.
Andrey Gorin noted that preventive measures are currently being taken: «Preventive measures are currently being taken to prevent the consequences of flooding: house-to-house inspections, checks of temporary accommodation centers and stocks of material resources. Work is planned to strengthen protective structures. Similar measures are being taken in all municipalities where flood risks exist.»
The response to the situation is currently being carried out at the municipal level. Gorin emphasized: «The situation is under control. There is no need to take additional measures on a regional scale for now, but all forces and resources are on high alert.»
Earlier this summer, water levels in the rivers of Tyumen Region began to rise again after prolonged rains. Residents in the flood zone were informed about the possibility of evacuation to temporary accommodation centers. At risk are three gardening cooperatives — «Rodnichok», «Dubrava» and «Osen-1», as well as 81 houses located in the city behind the dam.
