Heightened Alert Declared in Tyumen Region Over Flood Threat
A state of emergency will be declared if the water reaches the «dangerous event» level.
In the Nizhnetavdinsky district of the Tyumen region, a heightened alert has been declared. The cause was a rise in the Tavda River — its level reached the «adverse event» mark. This was reported by Andrei Gorin, director of the Department of Civil Protection and Fire Safety of the Tyumen Region. According to him, if the water continues to rise and reaches the «dangerous event» mark, a state of emergency will be declared in the municipality.
«Currently, preventive measures are being taken to avert the consequences of the flood: door-to-door inspections, checking of temporary accommodation centers and material reserves. Work is planned to strengthen protective structures. Similar measures are being taken in all municipalities where flood-related risks exist,» Andrei Gorin said.
He noted that currently, the response to the situation is being handled at the municipal level.
«The situation is under control. There is no need to take additional measures at the regional level yet, but all forces and resources are on high alert,» the department director emphasized.
It should be recalled that this summer, after prolonged rains, the water level in rivers in the Tyumen region began to rise again. Earlier, residents of Tyumen who were in the flood zone were warned about the possibility of evacuating to temporary accommodation centers. A total of three garden cooperatives are at risk: «Rodnichok», «Dubrava» and «Osen-1», as well as 81 houses located in the city behind the dam.
