Heat finally arrives in Perm – weekly forecast
This summer, the Kama region has been suffering from heavy downpours. Doctor of Geographical Sciences Andrey Shikhov, in his weekly forecast, told whether another batch of heavy rain is to be expected.
In a forecast published on the Telegram channel «Dangerous Natural Phenomena of Perm Krai,» Andrey Shikhov says that a blocking anticyclone will affect the Northern Urals. Because of it, the Kama region will experience moderately hot and mostly dry weather with daytime temperatures of +26…+31°C (79–88°F) — 2–4°C (4–7°F) above the climatic norm for this period.
“For the first time since the start of summer, a precipitation deficit is expected, although local thunderstorms are still possible,” notes the forecaster. “A feature of this week will also be high humidity, due to which the perceived temperature will be somewhat higher than the actual temperature.”
Monday, 20 July
On Monday, local showers with thunderstorms are possible in the southeast of Perm Krai, with a north-east wind at 5–10 meters per second. In the rest of the region, the wind will be light. Daytime temperatures in the Kama region will be +24…+29°C (75–84°F), and in Perm they are expected at +26…+28°C (79–82°F).
Tuesday, 21 July
On Tuesday, mostly partly cloudy weather and mostly without precipitation is expected across Perm Krai. Nighttime temperatures in the Kama region will be +14…+19°C (57–66°F), daytime +25…+30°C (77–86°F); in Perm, nighttime temperatures are expected at +16…+18°C (61–64°F) and daytime +28…+30°C (82–86°F).
Wednesday, 22 July
On Wednesday, the nature of the weather will not change significantly; there is a chance of local showers and thunderstorms in the east of the region. Temperatures in the Kama region: night +15…+20°C (59–68°F), day +26…+31°C (79–88°F); in Perm, nighttime +16…+18°C (61–64°F) and up to +30°C (86°F) during the day.
Thursday, 23 July
On Thursday, thunderstorms are possible in the north and west of the region, and they may reach Perm. Air temperatures will remain the same as on Wednesday, but in the east of the region it may be 1–2°C (2–4°F) cooler due to the influx of cooler air from the east.
Friday, 24 July
According to preliminary data, on Friday the probability of thunderstorms will decrease due to the strengthening of the anticyclone. Nighttime temperatures in Perm Krai will be +15…+20°C (59–68°F), daytime it will warm up to +26…+31°C (79–88°F); in Perm, nighttime +16…+18°C (61–64°F), daytime +30°C (86°F).
Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 July
On the weekend, the weather will not change significantly. During the day in the Kama region, local brief showers and thunderstorms and up to +27…+32°C (81–90°F) are expected, at night +15…+20°C (59–68°F). In Perm, nighttime +16…+18°C (61–64°F), daytime around +30°C (86°F).
Andrey Shikhov noted that the water level in rivers will decrease over this week.
