Cloudberry Shortage in Tyumen: Where to Buy?
Abnormal heat has sharply reduced the cloudberry harvest in Tyumen forests. Berries ripened early and dried out, but can be bought at 800-1500 rubles ($9-$17 at current rates) per kilogram.

In the forests of Tyumen Oblast, there is an acute shortage of cloudberries this season. Local residents attribute this to unstable weather and high air temperatures. The berries ripened too quickly and are already starting to spoil. Even experienced pickers cannot fill their buckets with the «swamp amber» because there is so little of it.
This berry is called royal due to its rich complex of beneficial substances.

«There is very little cloudberry this year. It is so small and already going bad in places. The thing is, we went to check, the berries were green, and a week later when we returned, they were overripe. Apparently the heat finished them off. I think it»s simply impossible to pick a lot,« said Olga Kurochkina from Tyumen.

Cloudberries are now available online. There are relatively few ads, but it is possible to buy the berries. They mostly come from the northern districts of Tyumen Oblast.
