After storms and downpours, 30°C (86°F) heat has finally arrived in Yekaterinburg. And according to forecasts, the warm weather will last at least until the end of July.

«The rainy cyclone has moved to Siberia. A second center of cyclonic activity this week will be located over the European territory of Russia. The movement of cyclones to the Urals will be hindered by a ridge of an anticyclone, which during the period 22–28 July will determine very warm weather in the region (daytime +27…+33°C (81…91°F)) without significant precipitation. Only on 23 July, local light rains are possible when moist air attempts to penetrate the anticyclone system,» explained the chief meteorologist of the Urals.

According to meteorologists, the heat will last until the end of July.

«Starting Tuesday, the weather in Sverdlovsk Oblast is determined by a ridge of an anticyclone stretching from the Arctic coast to the south and southwest across the entire country. Precipitation will mostly cease, and exceptionally warm weather will set in across the region. It is expected that the period with daytime temperatures close to +30°C (86°F) will last until the middle of next week and end at the very end of July,» noted Alexey Pulin, author of the Telegram channel «Weather in Yekaterinburg.»

This summer, an anomalous amount of precipitation has fallen in the Urals. Earlier we reported that due to floods, federal highways had to be closed. We collect all materials on how the region is going underwater in a special section.

The chief meteorologist of the region explained why it has been raining so often this season and whether tornadoes could strike again.
