After the recent storms and downpours, 30-degree Celsius (86°F) heat has set in across Yekaterinburg. According to forecasts, the warm weather will persist until at least the end of July.
«The rainy cyclone has moved to Siberia. A second center of cyclonic activity this week will be located over the European territory of Russia. The movement of cyclones to the Urals will be hindered by a ridge of anticyclone, which in the period of 22–28 July will determine very warm weather in the region (daytime +27…+33°C / 81–91°F) without significant precipitation. Local light rain is possible only on 23 July when moist air attempts to penetrate the anticyclone system,» explained the chief forecaster of the Urals.
The heat, according to forecasters, will continue until the end of July. «From Tuesday, the weather in the Sverdlovsk Region is determined by a ridge of anticyclone, stretching from the Arctic coast to the south and southwest across the entire country. Precipitation will mostly cease, and exceptionally warm weather is establishing across the region. It is expected that the period with daytime temperatures close to +30 degrees (86°F) will last until the middle of next week and end at the very end of July,» noted Alexei Pulin, author of the Telegram channel «Weather in Yekaterinburg.»
This summer, an anomalous amount of precipitation fell in the Urals. Due to floods, federal highways were temporarily closed. The region«s chief forecaster explained the reasons for the frequent rains this season and answered a question about possible repeat tornadoes.
