Young beauty from Russia wins Miss Intercontinental contest, but viewers have questions
Amidst the major beauty pageants held throughout the year, there are another couple of hundred similar events, but on a more modest scale. Sometimes the contestants of these competitions disappear forever, sometimes their names become firmly inscribed in the world of fashion and beauty, and we are confident that we will hear more about Varvara Yakovenko, the winner of the international beauty contest Miss Intercontinental 2025.
The final of the latest beauty pageant took place on January 29 in Egypt. Contestants from Cuba, Thailand, Tanzania, the Philippines, and other countries vied for the winner«s crown. Among them was the vice-miss of Crimea 2024, Varvara Yakovenko. She managed to slip in so successfully that she left her rivals no chance of victory.
The 16-year-old schoolgirl from Yalta became the third representative of Russia in the competition«s entire history to receive this title.
In the final, she appeared on stage in a crown, a silver dress, and holding a Russian flag.
Varvara is an excellent student, plays the harp, and is involved in dancing, vocals, modeling, yoga, and Pilates.
Those close to the girl also note that she is always responsive and cheerful.
«The Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant is over. I won! These words still sound unreal to me,» Varvara shared on her blog. «Behind them are months of tension, sleepless nights, tears, doubts, and a huge internal struggle. I will miss it. The people, the moments, the emotions that will never happen again. I thank those who were truly by my side! I am taking with me my strength, my experience, and my memories. I won. But most importantly, I became stronger!»
The girl had barely recovered from the victory when commentators had already posted dozens of messages to her. Some warmly support the winner.
«Well, a beauty has finally become the winner! Nowadays, that«s more of a rarity than the norm in such competitions,» writes one commenter.
«Very beautiful! Russia must only move forward,» adds a second.
«A very beautiful and charming girl, she did a great job,» admires a third.
«Russian girls are the most beautiful in the whole world,» another commenter proudly states.
Others believe Varvara is hiding her real age and say she is no tenth-grader.
«At 16, Varenka looks 30+,» calculated one commenter.
«A schoolgirl? She definitely looks about 30,» agrees a second.
«Why are you picking on her age, it«s just the makeup,» defends the girl a third.
«A very beautiful girl, but what about childhood?» laments another. «At 16, she looks as if she«s already in her twenties, but she should still be dealing with teenage things, there»s no need to rush into adulthood.»
