Chita Photographer Delivers in 15 Minutes, Shoots in Thailand

Tatiana Boltushenko is a photographer from Chita, Siberia, Russia, who long dreamed of working in the police. All through her student years, she dreamed of becoming a lawyer and dedicating her life to restoring justice, until in her fourth year, before undergoing a military medical commission, she had part of her thyroid gland removed. After that, Tatiana was told she could forget about working in the police. She became disillusioned with everything.

— It was very difficult, I kept a lot to myself. Sometimes loved ones helped. But this crisis pushed me towards photography. I«ve always been creative, and after graduating from university, I asked my husband to give me a camera to try if it was for me.

She started with shoots for 300 rubles (about $3 at current rates) in 2017, gradually learning and developing. Now photography has become her life«s work. Tatiana didn»t find her style immediately: she says she is constantly searching for it.

— Photography is inherently linked to my vision and personality, which regularly transforms. However, the one thing I always try to reflect in my work is people«s emotions. I don»t like staged shots; I always try to make my subjects laugh, to help them relax in front of the camera.

The main profile of Tatiana Boltushenko is photography, but sometimes she also takes on creating videos like reels or short clips for families.

— In my work, I don«t use artificial intelligence because I want to keep people human, without doll-like faces or overly perfect images. I remove some temporary flaws like pimples and scars if the client wants. But otherwise, I want people to look at the album in 20 years and see themselves without excessive retouching, remember the past and think about how cool it was.

Tatiana often works with families: first she shot their wedding, later the birth of a child, and then the years of growing up.

— This makes me very happy. After such shoots, I develop very warm relationships with clients, some of them even become my friends.

Her future plans are to become a famous photographer in Chita and also shoot in other Russian cities. Now Tatiana already has experience working in Thailand.

— My family and I go to Thailand for wintering two years in a row, and thanks to the internet, many people from Chita find me, whom I shoot at the sea. Tourists from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, Novokuznetsk, Vladivostok, Irkutsk also book — I«ve gathered such a geography that I never even dreamed of. So I set a goal — to shoot not only in Chita but beyond its borders.
