In the world of cosmetology, where new methods and products constantly appear, it can be difficult to understand which approaches really work. Why do we age, and how does modern medicine help fight this inevitable process? How has cosmetology changed in recent years, and what procedures are popular among women and men today? Barnaul cosmetologist Alena Leshchenko answered these and many other questions in an interview with NGS22.RU.

Why do we age and how to fight it?

Aging is a complex biological process caused by many factors.

«Aging is a natural process, and unfortunately, it is inevitable. Sooner or later we start seeing wrinkles, drooping eyebrows, dull complexion in the mirror. Yes, we cannot stop this process, but we can slow it down. Today, cosmetology has come a long way. Innovative technologies allow us to create cosmeceuticals that really work,» says the cosmetologist.

Also, according to her, modern medicine is developing rapidly, and cosmetology is no exception. Alena Leshchenko notes that in recent years there has been a real breakthrough in understanding the aging processes and developing effective methods to combat them.

«If earlier cosmetology was focused mainly on superficial problems, now the emphasis has shifted to deep impact, stimulation of natural regeneration processes and prevention of aging,» explains Leshchenko.

She added that devices help us maintain youth and beauty, all of them are aimed at natural rejuvenation.

Popular procedures for women

Which approaches in cosmetology are the most effective? The cosmetologist highlights a comprehensive approach that combines hardware techniques, peels, and professional care.

«To combat the first signs of aging, I would recommend peels. For some reason, when a client hears the word peel, they immediately associate it with peeling, flaky skin, and so on, but this is not always the case. You can undergo a course of all-season or medium peels that do not cause redness and peeling but still fight problems,» said the cosmetologist.

She noted that today hardware cosmetology occupies a leading position in popularity among women.

«These procedures provide a pronounced and long-lasting effect, significantly improving skin quality and restoring a healthy glow. Among the most popular methods are microcurrent therapy, RF-lifting, and microneedling, which is performed using a mesoroller — a device containing 200 finest needles,» notes the expert.

The basic principle of many modern hardware procedures is controlled micro-injury of the surface layer of the skin.

«When we injure the surface layer of our skin, naturally not deeply, we trigger the process of tissue regeneration. This mechanism stimulates collagen production, which leads to visible rejuvenation and tightening of the face. Thus, you can effectively fight problems such as scars, acne marks, and wrinkles,» emphasizes the specialist.

Despite the wide range of effective procedures, all of them are prescribed only after a thorough consultation with a specialist and a complete medical history. This guarantees safety and maximum treatment effectiveness.

«Aesthetic cosmetology does not have strict seasonal restrictions. Most procedures can be performed both in winter and summer. The choice of a specific method depends on the individual skin type and the problems that need to be solved,» clarifies the cosmetologist.

Popular procedures for men

Visits to a cosmetologist have long ceased to be exclusively a female activity. Men increasingly seek professional help, striving to look well-groomed and young.

Alena Leshchenko notes that men prefer procedures aimed at improving the overall condition of the skin, eliminating signs of fatigue, and correcting age-related changes.

«Among popular men’s procedures are facial cleansings, peels, SPA treatments, as well as procedures to improve skin quality and stimulate hair growth,» noted Leshchenko.

Many people wonder which cosmetics stop working after 40. Alena Leshchenko emphasizes that it is not about age, but about the right choice of products.

«After 40, the skin requires more intensive care aimed at stimulating collagen and elastin production, deep hydration, and protection from free radicals. It is important to pay attention to the composition of cosmetics: retinoids, peptides, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid are the components that should be present in your home care. A cosmetologist will help you choose the right home care in their office after a complete analysis of your skin,» clarified the specialist.
