Spring flood 'harder than last year' in Tyumen

Specialists from Roshydromet (Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring) have shared their forecast for the spring flood in Tyumen Oblast. According to them, the region will again face serious flooding this year.

«Analysis of current hydrometeorological conditions shows that the spring flood of 2026 will be more difficult than last year, particularly in the Central, Siberian, and Far Eastern federal districts. Above-normal maximum water levels during the spring flood are possible on the Ishim River (Tyumen Oblast),» the forecasters said.

As a reminder, experts had also expected a difficult situation in 2025. However, measures taken by authorities helped avoid severe consequences. Authorities spent over 600 million rubles (approximately $6 million at current rates) on these measures.
